Assalamu alaikum,

The Islamic courtship process suggested does appear to be a part of the Islamic
lifestyle, if you look to the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Muslims have an obligation to use the intellect Allah gave us
to make even MAJOR decisions to apply Islamic principles. For example, even on the responsibility to help preserve the Qur’an itself.

Some time after the Prophet’s (pbuh) passing away, his companion Umar (r.a.) was worried that because many Qur’an memorisers had died,
” (Umar said) ‘…a large part of the Qur’an may be lost, unless you (Caliph Abu Bakr) collect it. And I am of the opinion that you should collect the Qur’an.’
Abu Bakr added, ‘I said to Umar, ‘How can I do something which Allah’s apostle has not done? Umar said (to me) ‘By Allah, it is (really) a good thing’ So Umar kept on pressing trying to persuade me to accept his proposal, till Allah opened my bosom for it and I had the same opinion as Umar.’ ” (Hadith Bukhari, narrated by Zaid bin Thabit)

So I think it is clear that Muslims have an OBLIGATION to do what we can to help our brothers and sisters get married well, especially parents.

In conclusion, anything that is a good, halal innovation should be done.

P.S. I think it is because of a widespread lack of sincerity amongst our community in trying to achieve marriages that this practice is not widespread.

It actually appears to be nothing new. A Muslim Iraqi friend told me that in her culture, suitors have conversations with the woman of interest with her family present & they get to know each other’s personalities, opinions and lifestyles. It just takes the families to be sincere and cooperate to achieve this.

Hilarious I’ve been to Egypt but its not close to as torture-some as the afghans homes I’ve eaten in – they will feed u forever they don’t have the word full around the kitchen. LOL but you walk out loved and full for the next two weeks LOL!!

I am the middle child and i’d have to say my mom did a pretty great job by me mashallah dads they maybe sometimes confused – maybe if people stopped making a large deal of it and let the child bond with the younger in things and share responsibility with the older life may be a little older – people also assume because children are born in a certain order that their maturity will follow that same pattern.

Funny that i followed through with all that gotten to the final parts but they decided they didnt want to hire a Muslim after all – the you just have to roll with the punches and move on (truly)
Jazakalah for taking the time out for this article. p.s. i definitely agree with the ”more interviews than can count – ive applied to more jobs than stores probably. and make that istikaarah it does add a little more anxiety to the whole process -but its definitely worth it ! never know what Allah may be protecting you from and know whatever the result is ”its all good’

Wow, masha Allah!
I cannot believe how relieved I am.
As this article fades my insecurities and doubts, it enlightens me with knowledge and self-confidence.

I’ve been nasuated by constantly reading articles in where they provide vague generalizations about relationships that in order for the successful-marriage formula to work, one must be arranged a potential by the choice of their parents or if one has found a potential spouse, they should immediately marry. As if these are the ONLY two options available for muslims.

I really pray InshAllah that we the next generation ensure that culture does not get mixed up with pure Islamic teaching as this is what causes problems in the first place unfortunately.

There is no harm in keeping that of your culture which does not go against Islam.

May Allah protect us from straying from the right path, Ameen.

I do understand. Im A older brother still striving to learn more & more about the deen & fine it difficlut to meet any sister to help in my struggles? Im really afraid to approach any sister cause I dont want to be rejected. I think this is A Great Article. I no I have to remain patient & Inshallah Allah will Grand me Beatiful Wife soon.

Firstly:

If the worshipper can say du’aa’ well in Arabic, it is not permissible for him to make du’aa’ in any other language.

But if the worshipper is unable to make du’aa’ in Arabic, there is no reason why he should not make du’aa’ in his own language, so long as he starts learning Arabic in the meantime.

With regard to making du’aa’ in languages other than Arabic outside of prayer, there is nothing wrong with that, especially if that will make the worshipper more focused in his du’aa’.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said:

It is permissible to make du’aa’ in Arabic and in languages other than Arabic. Allaah knows the intention of the supplicant and what he wants, no matter what language he speaks, because He hears all the voices in all different languages, asking for all kinds of needs.
